I haven't posted for 2 months, but I will try to keep it short and sweet! We are all doing fine - I have had a horrible sinusitis/bronchitis thing, but am starting to recover - I at least have my voice back now.
Most of the last two months was spent with me studying. So, once we finished school - the kids finished on May 13th - we have been trying to catch up and get everything done that didn't get done while I was studying. You moms know what I'm talking about - if you don't do it, no one else will! I even suggested to Mike that the most perfect Mother's Day present would be if he and the kids cleaned house. He informed me I "was not his mother" and "he didn't have to do anything for me for Mother's Day, that was up to my children". Whatever. So, needless to say, they did not clean house for me on MD.
Alexa turned 9 and Andrew is about to turn 11. I cannot believe it. We are going to have a joint "friend party" for them this weekend. Nothing big, but a sleepover, with all the junk food and noise that comes with it.
The kids finished up soccer on Alexa's birthday. They played 3 on 3 soccer, which requires an excessive amount of running. They both have said they don't want to play it again, but want to play regular soccer in the fall. Alexa did great - she played up a couple of grades so that they could be on the same team ( that was for us, we just didn't have the time available to go to 4 soccer practices a week). She was quite tenacious and didn't let the bigger kids intimidate her. I think most of them were surprised that this little girl could get the ball from them. Andrew did much better than I thought he might. He doesn't like to run, I was surprised he even attempted it, but he really improved over the course of the season. The coach was super hard on him - it was his best friend's dad - and never said anything nice to him, but was quick with the criticism. He never high fived him when he came off the field - even though he did every other player. I was quite peeved by the time the season was over.
Tomorrow we start watching their "sister" for the summer. The kids have grown up with Hayley, (I started babysitting her when she was 2 months old) and she is more than a BFF, she is their sister. Alexa has been counting down the days to when Hayley comes over.
Andrew is going to take a Movies and Robots class at the college. They will build robots, and then make movies. This is a class that is designed with him in mind. Those are the two things he is interested in. It is an all day class, for a week. He didn't even care that he wouldn't know anyone taking it, he wanted to take it that much. I am super proud of him. He rarely gets excited about anything and he is excited for this class to begin.
Alexa is going to take a rock climbing class; and another class to be decided later, at the college as well. Hayley gets to decide the other class they are going to take. Alexa is excited about her class, but Alexa gets excited about everything!
I will have to post pictures later, they are all still on my camera!
